Grand Plans
I made grand plans for today. I was going to wake up early, watch SNL while tidying up, hit the gym for a new group class, eat lunch, sort through all my running crap currently occupying the kitchen table, meal plan, grocery shop, and watch the big game.
I made it through the group class when disaster struck. I think I threw out my back. Actually, I know I threw out my back because I had to ask a girl in the locker room to help me put my coat on. The two block walk home took 15 minutes.
Ibuprofin and three hours on the living room floor with a heating pad didn’t even put a dent in it. It’s time to bring in the big guns: flexeril.
This has happened to me twice before. Once after a nasty (okay, drunken) fall down a flight of stairs on Halloween 2009 and again a few months later after a particularly aggressive intramural basketball game (it was our first win in two seasons, totally worth it).
For now, I’m not thinking about tomorrow or next week’s long run or the marathon. I’m just wondering how I’m going to get my pants up next time I have to pee? And who is going to feed me delicious, football snacks?
